Understanding the contributions of vascular health to normal and pathological aging is fundamentally important given both the prevalence of vascular risk in the aging population and its amenability to prevention and treatment.

Dr. Rodrigue’s research focuses on mapping the changes that the healthy human brain undergoes with aging and understanding how these changes affect behavior. She is specifically interested in how health factors such as hypertension in combination with genetic risk can shape the course of aging. Our lab uses a variety of tools to assess brain and cognitive aging including structural and functional MRI, beta-amyloid PET imaging and detailed cognitive and neuropsychological assessment.

Dr. Rodrigue Collaborates with Dr. Pinkham on Mild Cognitive Impairment Research
Researchers at The University of Texas at Dallas believe that determining the capability of individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) to assess accurately their own cognitive function may help improve diagnosis of that condition — which often precedes an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis — as well as potentially help better identify those at risk for dementia later.
